Bob Denny Sportsmanship Award
The polls are now open and anyone who has a login to the website can vote for the team that has displayed the best example of sportsmanship this season. The winning team will be presented with the magnificent 'Bob Denny Sportsmanship Award' trophy at the banquet on June 26th. Please try and encourage everyone you know to vote as this trophy really represents what this league is about.
In other news and on a related issue I'm happy to announce that the pool tournament held on May 26th to benefit the victims of the Nepal Earthquake raised $1,870. It was an excellent day and a terrific example of people coming together in sport and helping those less fortunate. A huge thank you to Charlie from Wonky Triangles for the brilliant idea in the first place as well as getting some wonderful prizes, Lenny for hosting in his usual suave and sophisticated manner, Ronan for helping to add to the massive prize fund, Mark and and all the staff at Scrooge Pub for laying on a special event and supplying great prizes, Jim and all the staff at Dolce Vita for helping with co-hosing duties and to all the bars and businesses that were so kind in donations especially Craftworks and Soapy Genie who offered up some brilliant prizes. Finally I would like to thank my teammate, Jeff Bunke, who contributed massively on the day by buying an obscene amount of raffle tickets and trying buy everyone in the Calcutta.
It was an awesome day and I was very proud to be there with a special group of people.

Nepal Earthquake Charity Tournament
There will be a charity pool tournament (double elimination) on Sunday 24th May in Scrooge Pub. Sign ups are from 2pm and the games will begin around 3pm. The main aim for this tournament is to raise money for Nepal, which has recently been devastated by a series of earthquakes that have killed thousands and left many more homeless and without basic supplies. All contributions will be donated to Save the Children and we are hopeful many players from the league will come along and play. This tournament will also be open to non-league members.
The entry fee will be 10,000won and the winner will get a percentage of the takings. We will be running a Calcutta bidding process (ask if you don't know), a raffle with great prizes and there will also be fine jar for any fouls and stupid shots.
For anyone who has spent time in Nepal will know the country is rich with natural beauty and historical culture, but much more than that, they are welcoming and generous people. Please be generous in your support of this tournament. It is a public holiday the following Monday, so what better way to spend a Sunday than with a friendly group of pool players.
If you are unable to attend you can still make a donation via myself, Ronan, Charlie (Wonky Triangles) or Lenny (Boomtown Rats).

Play Off System
It seems like there is a real need to clarify the new play-off system. It was voted in at the start of season meeting and Bernard has made it as clear as possible if you follow this link and download the New Playoff System. Alternatively you can go to downloads and click the first rules tab and you'll see it there.

The top 8 will play off in the first round. The losers of those matches will get a second chance in the play-offs and the winners will advance to the 3rd round directly. Teams place 9-16 in the Team List will play off against each other. The losers will be eliminated and the winners will play the losers from the top 8 first round matches.
Based on current standings (as of May26th) the first round of Championship A would look like this
Friends @ Bull & Barrel Rising Stars
VFW Misfits @ Shenanigans
JR BBQ @ Seoul Pub FUTA
Dolce Vita Angry Birds @ Scrooge Phoenix
Sin Bin Potato @ Shenanigans Boomtown Rats
Bulldog Lounge @ Bulldog Miss Q
3 Alley Pub @ Sin Bin Tomato
Scrooge Pub Wonky Triangles @ Bulldog Rackem & Crackem
I will be heading round the bars on the last night of the regular season and will explain this system further. I'll happily answer any questions about it too.

Bulldog Lounge & 3 Alley Pub News
As some of you are already aware, some teams have had issues with their bars changing or closing down this season.
3 Alley Pub is continuing to play where 3 Alley Pub once stood but it is now under the guise of Sam Ryan's.
Bulldog Lounge closed down last Sunday. They will play the remainder of the season at Dillinger's. This means that Hollywood Scandal should head there for the game this week and 3 Alley Pub should do the same in two weeks time.
If you have any further issues about the venues please contact myself, Mick (3 Alley Pub) or David (Bulldog Lounge) for more details.
