Important Update 21st February 2016:

King Bar has closed down from this week. For the remainder of the season King Bar's team will be moving to a new bar on the 3rd Floor of a building between Sin Bin and JJ's and this will be called King Pub. We understand that they are taking the table from King Bar to their new home. They will forfeit this week's game against JJ's the Pain but Fat Albert's Scandal and 3 Alley Seoul Misfits have games coming up at the new King Pub, so I would ask captains to inform their players of the change of venue.

The full schedule for the 2016 Winter/Spring Season will be posted online tonight or early tomorrow morning. It has been an enormously difficult task getting everything organised, making sure we have 20 weeks and ensuring teams play each other within their divisions home and away. Huge thanks to Oz for working tirelessly on the fixtures and also to Ronan and Bernard for their input.

Here are the fixtures for the opening week:

Shenanigans @ Bulldog Runners

Dolce Vita Sweet Life @ Fat Albert's Scandal

JR BBQ The Ace @King Bar Kings

JR Pub Troyjans @ Scrooge Pub Phoenix

Upper Deck Loose Cannons @ Shenanigans Boomtown Rats

Bull & Barrel Ballistics @ JJ's Zzyzx

Bulldog Estyle @ JR Pub All Stars

Scrooge Pub Wonky Triangles @ Dolce Vita Angry Birds

Sin Bin Potato @ 3 Alley Seoul Misfits

3 Alley Seoul @ Seoul Pub FUTA

JJ's The Pain @ Sin Bin Tomato

The very best of luck and fair play to all teams.

Seollal - Korean Lunar New Year

We have decided not to play matches on February 10th. Although it is not an official part of the Korean New Year the government have added it as a holiday to make up for Sunday. Out of respect for those who may have to travel long distances at this time we will not play matches at this time. It does mean the season will be extended by an extra week and the end of season banquet will now be on June 24th. The turn around between seasons this year will be very short.

Team Fees

Please make sure your team has paid its fees in full (350,000won) by next Wednesday (January 27th). You can pay in person to Mark Jones at Scrooge Pub or ask a league official for the bank account details in order for you to transfer the funds.

The 2016 Itaewon Pool League Winter/Spring Season is soon to commence and our organisational meeting will take place next Wednesday at 7:30pm in Scrooge. Teams wishing to sign up for the new season will need to provide their captain's full contact details, a team name and the bar they intend to play their home games at and a deposit of 100,000won with team fees to be paid in full (350,000won) by the 3rd week of the season. The season will start on the 13th of January.

To help with the promotion of the league we are, once again, featured in Groove magazine this month. Please check out the excellently written article by Liam Ring in print or online. There are also some excellent pictures taken by Nick Bruneau. Click this link.

And finally to help you get fully prepared for the new season we have been sent details (by Jonathan Soderholm) of a fantastic new pool hall called 'The Color of Money' in Ilsan. The club is run by Peter Cho, a professional 9-ball pool player and it has 8 Min tables that kept in excellent condition. The club does a decent burger, has San Miguel on tap and sells a range of top quality accessories and pool cues. More importantly Peter and his business partner Jean Koo offer pool lessons to help you cope with the rigours of facing the stiff competition thrown up by the IPL each week. These lessons are very reasonably priced and Peter is even willing to come to Itaewon to help out players from beginners to advanced. It's a brilliant opportunity to improve your game ahead of the regular season. Please feel free to check out the club and look it up on Facebook. With a name like 'The Color of Money' how can you go wrong.
